We have oodles of stuff planned, bringing more, interesting (and more interesting) stuff to the world. But of course some of this will be a long time in coming, especially the all-new projects that are just getting started. We're not depending on fickle dot-com venture capital, just good old-fashioned hard work and imagination. One irregular series we'll be publishing is called, simply, "O." It features tales by short-story legend O. Henry, illustrated by Todd VerBeek. A B&W preview of the first installment is available here. Todd is also illustrating a short story of his own, called "Above and Beyond", a near-future tale in which the public learns the surprising truth about the heroic astronaut who courageously saved hundreds of millions of lives. We're working on republishing cartoons by Gustave Verbeek (a distant relative of Todd's), best known for his imaginative "The Upside Downs" strips of the early 1900's, which were read both rightside-up and upside-down. This will be published at gustave.zeromassmedia.com Todd participated in "24-Hour Comics Day" in October 2006, producing a complete 24-page comicbook from concept to final art in just 24 consecutive hours. The results are available online at 24.zeromassmedia.com. We're sometimes asked what the "correct" way to read the name is. Well, you can put the emphasis in either place: 1) ZERO MASS media: We publish online, with no physical objects moving about. This allows us to operate at very low costs, both to us and to the reader. (We still remember the word "free".) 2) zero MASS MEDIA: We'd love to reach every man, woman, and impressionable child out there. What we publish won't be for everyone... but if everyone were smarter and more adventurous, it would be. If you don't get into what we publish, that's your own problem.
